Question Re:2011 - 2012 Mustang 3.7 liter V-6
I am very impressed with the 2011 - 2012 Mustang with the 3.7 liter V-6. I think it is
a near perfect combination of power, handling and efficiency.
I am curious to know what, if any, Shelby performance packages you might be thinking about offering for the 3.7 V-6. Will such a modified car actually be "Shelby" badged.
Please advise,
Steve Carter
Answer:Hi Steve
Thanks for the question. The 2011 - 2012 Mustang 3.7 liter V-6 is a great achievement for Ford and is a significant step forward for the pony car in V6 form.
As you probably know,
the new, and very fuel efficient V6 already pumps out 90 horsepower over the 2010 V6 models and is now a stout performer in it's own right.
While there is not any announcement on whether or not there will be a Shelby Terlingua version of the V6 Mustang, there is some
great news for Shelby Mustang fans for this excellent car.
Since Ford announced the introduction of the 2011 Mustang, Shelby was working in secret to develop a new high performance package, consisting of improvements to handling, stopping, styling and horsepower.
This package for owners of 2011 and 2012 Mustang V6 cars is called the
Shelby GTS package.
It's a limited offering, originally scheduled to start in the last quarter of 2011.
Here are some
specs and highlights of the Shelby GTS package:Standard Engine Performance Improvementsfresh air package
Borla exhaust
Suspension & BrakesFord Racing/Shelby handling pack
Shelby/Baer Brakes
Stylingblack billet grille
specially designed Shelby hood
wheel and tire upgrade package
Shelby Le Mans Stripes
Some of the Options:two tone leather interior
Supercharger....
I'll tantalize you with this for the time being. But there's a whole section coming up on the 2011 - 2012 Shelby GTS V6 package.
By the way, the optional supercharger is cranking out 475 horsepower, compared to an output of 375 horsepower for the 2010 Mustang Terlingua cars.
Considering the 2011 Mustang V6 is considerably lighter than the 5.0 liter Coyote engine Mustang GT, you can imagine just how much fun this car will be to drive !
The cost for the base GTS V6 Shelby performance package is $9,995 over and above the cost of the car. The supercharger and other options are extra.
Stay tuned for the whole story.!
